Disney-Lucasfilm’s ‘Folklore’ and ‘Fantasy’ Festival in Helsinki will celebrate folk, fantasy, sci-fi, sci fi and more in 2019
The first of the Finnish Folklore and Fantasy Festival will take place at Helsinki’s Folsom Street Fairgrounds from September 7-10.
The theme for the 2018 edition was “Folk” and the festival will include a variety of folk performers from around the world, from folk singers to singers from a Norwegian folk band.
It will also feature the likes of Swedish folk singer Kjell Olofson, Norwegian musician and singer of the folk duo The Rheinhardt Brothers, Finnish singer and actress Kari Stefansson and Danish folk singer Kristoffer Torgersen.
The event will also showcase new works by folk artists from across the world.
Folk music and dance is popular across Europe and the world and has been gaining a strong following in recent years.
This year’s edition will feature music from more than 60 countries, and will include live music, folkloric performances, a traditional festival and many more.
In the spirit of the festival, the organisers have set aside a special section of the fairgrounds for the artists to perform, with special programmes for children.
